Obituary for William Lee Perry

William Lee Perry
Perry, William Lee

Peacefully, surrounded by warmth and love, in Burlington, on June 7, 2017 , at the age of 90. Beloved husband of the late Margaret (2007). Loving father of Sydney Hassal (late Scott). Proud grandfather of Samantha.
Air pioneer and explorer, he flew from a small Ontario agricultural town to the corners of the world, in the golden era of commercial flight. From from early days as a bush pilot, to senior Captain of Air Canada's flagship 747's, he flew people to adventure, horses to Belgium, cattle to Africa, equipment to Cuba, royalty to pilgrimages, celebrity to celebrations, and a sitting Canadian Prime Minister to home.
His heart was never far from his agrarian roots, and after retirement he pursued farming full time. First president of the Canadian Limousin Association, and owner of one of the first foundation sires imported from France, and herds of full-French Limousin cattle in Canada, he raised a family of four-legged "children", now genetically represented in over 100 countries.
His final departure will be, as it always was, under his terms as Captain; surrounded by those he loved, memories of his remarkable life, and in his famous red sneakers. His large heart, great sense of humour, and straightforward manner will be most remembered by all who knew him.

Happy contrails dad, we'll miss you.

The family requests that you wear your favourite sneakers to the visitation/services
