Obituary for Barbara Lawson

LAWSON, Mary Barbara nee MacDonald
Barb passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at the age of 90. She was predeceased by her husband Mel Lawson on July 27, 2011. Barb leaves behind son David (Judy Ambrose), daughter Dana duDomaine (Ed) and son Jim (Sue), as well as seven grandchildren – Charlie (SarahLiz), Paul (Tannis Jarvis), Ted, Jimmy, Brodie, Tim and Jonnie and two great grandchildren, Olivia and Andrea. Barb is survived by her sister Johanna and brother Jim.
Barb was born in Toronto to parents Charles and Gladys MacDonald and cherished her childhood on Baby Point Cres. She attended Humbercrest, Runnymede and the University of Toronto. Barb lovingly raised her family in the Burlingon home that she and Mel built in 1949. She was an active member of Holimont Ski Club, The Burlington Golf & Country Club and loved her volunteer work with Big Sisters, The Hamilton Art Gallery and The Royal Botanical Gardens. Barb’s summers were spent at Long Point and winter holidays at Canada House, Florida.
Barb will be best remembered as a generous, vibrant, bright and outgoing spirit whose greatest joy came from time spent wih her family and many friends. She was a sports enthusiast, volunteer, bridge player, cottager, baker, supportive partner, wonderful mother, sister, grandmother and a friend to so many. Barb was truly a beautiful person both inside and out.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, June 9, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at East Plains United Church, 375 Plains Road, Burlington. Reception to follow at Burlington Golf. The family wishes to thank the staff of The Willamsburg, Burlington for their loving care.
