Obituary for Richard William "Rick" McIntyre

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the peaceful passing of Rick at his home on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at the age of 71. Loved father of Jesse (Soon-Young), Candice (Grant Dunlop) and Ginger Zahn. Beloved grandfather of Aidan, Amelia and Annie. Rick was born in Hamilton, Ontario on February 17th, 1946, where he lived most of his early life. He later resided in Grimsby, Ontario until his passing. Rick had a long career in the Hamilton steel industry, starting his career as an iron worker and union steward for the Iron Workers Union of Hamilton, later driving tractor trailer, and finishing his career as a lifting equipment specialist and sales representative for Russel Metals. Rick had many passions and hobbies throughout his life: he loved motorcycles, hot rods, trains, and he collected antiques. He also loved music: Doo Wop, Blues and Rock and Roll, with some of his favorite artists being CCR, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Luther Allison, Jerry Lee Lewis. He also loved dining out and always had friends and family accompany him to his favorite restaurants. Foremost, he was a loyal, loving friend and father who will be deeply missed, and never forgotten; whose zest and passion for life will live on through his son and daughters. As per Rick's wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at STONEHOUSE-WHITCOMB FUNERAL HOME, 11 Mountain Street, GRIMSBY (905-945-2755) on Friday, June 2, 2017 from 12 noon until time of the Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel.
