Obituary for Albert William "Bert" MacGirr

Albert (Bert) MacGirr
April 19, 1931 - May 16, 2017.

It is with sad hearts we share that Bert passed away peacefully on May 16, 2017 with family by his side at the Juravinski Hospital, Hamilton in his 86th year. Bert will be remembered as a hardworking, passionate man, devoted to his family, friends and who enjoyed being at the cottage tinkering or on the golf course. Bert was also a successful and proud owner of a Home Hardware store in Grimsby Ontario, for a number of years. Bert was a loving husband to Dorothy (nee Godden; June 1930-August 2013) for 60 wonderful years whose favorite days included being at the cottage on Peninsula Lake with the family, or being on the golf course. A loving father to Larry (Barb), Maureen and Margo (Doug). Bert was an oh so proud grandfather to Greg (Vera) and Jennifer (Michael) (Larry and Barb), Krista and Ryan (Maureen) and Nick and Julia (Margo and Doug). Bert will also be greatly missed by his brothers; Garth (Mary, predeceased), Allan (Dorothy, predeceased) and Gord (Cathy) and sister Jessie (predeceased). Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Bert’s life will be held at STONEHOUSE-WHITCOMB FUNERAL HOME, 11 Mountain Street, GRIMSBY (905-945-2755) on Saturday, June 3, 2017 from 2 - 4 p.m. In lieu flowers, donations to; McNally House, Grimsby, Juravinski Hospital, Hamilton, or the Canadian Cancer Society are appreciated.
