August 27, 1936 to May 23, 2017
Beloved wife of Bill Neill passed away due to severe kidney disease. Joan Marie was predeceased by her father W.H."Dick" Hannah, mother Helen Hannah (nee Fleetham), brother John Hannah and son William Edward Neill "Ted". Joan will be sorely missed by Bill, husband of 62 years and her children Michael (Susan), Patrick (Cathy), John "Jay" (Charlene), Niurys, Mary Catherine Bonser (Grant) and Robert (Tracy). Proud grandmother of 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. dear sister of Terri Young (Bob), Pegi Hannah (Rick Cox), Helen Horoky (Gary Cox) and Chris Hannah (Sue). Joan will be missed by her brother and sister-in-law Pat and Joyce Neill. She will be fondly remembered by countless friends and extended family in Canada and abroad. Upon graduating from Cathedral High School in 1954 Joan married Bill and had 6 children. As the children grew older Joan decided to upgrade her education and took classes at Cayuga high school. After a short time living in Sudbury, Joan and Bill moved back to Burlington where they rejoined the St. Raphael's family. At that time, Joan worked as a pharmacy assistant until retirement in 1989. She followed in her parents' footsteps with her love of music, joining several local choir groups. She retired from the Burlington Seniors' Choir in 2016 due to declining health. Joan loved her cats, gardening and exercise. She loved to stay active and in shape. The Neill family would like to thank her dedicated medical team who worked diligently to keep her comfortable as her health declined. Cremation has taken place. Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333) on Friday, May 26, 2017 from 3-5 & 7-9 PM. Family prayers for Joan at 8:30 PM. Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at St Raphael's Roman Catholic Church, 4072 New Street, Burlington on Saturday May 27, 2017 at 10 AM. Reception to follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to The Carpenter Hospice or charity of your choice would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
