Obituary for Esam Sarraf

SARRAF, Esam -
Passed away peacefully at his home in Burlington, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer, on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, just a few days before his 58th birthday. Beloved husband of Paula Ann (nee Dawson) for 30 years. Loving father of Sarina and Jordan. Much loved son of Hadi and the late Ozra Sarraf, and son-in-law of Peter Dawson and the late Pauline Dawson. Dear brother of Yasamin Miller (Phil), Ali Sarraf (Candy), and brother-in-law of John Dawson (Yvonne Lynch), Jeff Dawson (Janice James), and Angela Dewit (Fred).
Sadly missed by his niece, Isabela, nephew, Cyrus, many aunts, uncles, extended family, business colleagues, and friends. Sam was a Certified Engineering Technologist and worked as a Project Manager in the Markham office of Stantec. Sam's local involvements included North Burlington Rotary, the Committee of Adjustment for the City of Burlington, as well as charity walks for MS and many fund raising initiatives for the SB&H Association. His concern for others above himself and positive attitude will be fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched. The family would like to thank Dr. Singh, Dr. Dath, Dr. McWhirter, Dr. Phillips, and the amazing nurses and PSWs from Juravinski Hospital, Joseph Brant Hospital, the CCAC and St. Elizabeth's. The family would also like to offer special thanks to Reverend Allison Playfair from St. Stephen United Church for her many kindnesses. Private interment. Friends are invited to celebrate Sam’s life by visiting with the family at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stoplight north of QEW), BURLINGTON on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 from 12:00 noon until time of Celebration Service at 1 p.m. Reception to follow at the funeral home.
