Medeiros, Mario Jose
Passed away at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at the age of 86. Beloved husband of Maria Medeiros. Loving father of Elizabeth (Nick) and the late Diane (Joe). Proud grandfather of Taylor, Grace, and Christian. A devoted family man who loved his wife and daughters dearly, Mario worked very hard to give his daughters the happy childhood that had eluded him after the death of his father as a young boy. Immigrating to Canada with a very strong work ethic he was able to achieve a level of success he had only hoped for. In Canada, he enjoyed a long career within the hospitality industry. Most of those years were spent employed by Cara Operations in what was once known as the Toronto International Airport. His post-"retirement" years were spent happily working at the Badminton and Raquet Club, reminiscing with many of the members he had encountered when he worked there in the early 60's. Known for his love of storytelling and random acts of generosity, Mario will be dearly missed by his family and many friends. Many thanks to Dr. Ward-Smith, Dr.Wong and Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 485 Brant Street (one block north of City Hall), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Sunday, May 7, 2017 from 3-5 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at St.Raphael's Roman Catholic Church (4072 New Street, Burlington) on Monday, May 8, 2017 at 11:45 a.m. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
