Florida Visit

It’s hard to believe that it’s already been a year since the passing of our beloved friend Peter Cushing.   I was incredibly fortunate to have had him as my manager early in my career to learn so much from him about what it took to be a great manager.  Importantly, the relationship evolved to being a great personal friendship, where Peter and Betty have been caring towards Alicia and myself.

This brings me to a fond memory I wanted to share.  While vacationing in Naples Florida, Alicia and I, along with another couple visited Peter and Betty at their condo in Bonita Springs.   Peter knew the husband of the other couple as he worked in Sales at P&G.  As always, Peter and Betty were gracious hosts as they had prepared a nice lunch for us and of course they also served us some nice wine.  But what made the visit special, is that we enjoyed each other’s company, talking about our families, telling stories, our travels, laughing at our bad jokes and simply enjoying the moment.  Yes we did talk a little about the good old days at P&G, it’s hard not to when you get Proctoids together, but it was kept to a bare minimum.   This visit with Peter and Betty was very special and a key highlight of our vacation in Florida.

This is one of the many great qualities Peter had.  He was never too busy to make time for his friends, to entertain and enjoy the friendship and camaraderie of others.

We miss you Peter but you will never be forgotten.

Ron
