MITCHELL, John Franklin
With heavy hearts the family announces the peaceful passing of John F. Mitchell after a lengthy, courageous and stoic battle with cancer, at Joseph Brant Hospital on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at the age of 65. John leaves behind his beloved wife Dianne Ellen Mitchell (nee Forsyth). He will be lovingly remembered by his mother Phyllis Ada Mitchell (nee Allen). John will be dearly missed by his siblings Glenn Mitchell, Sharon Harper, Colleen Mitchell and brother-in-law John Forsyth. John is the cherished uncle of Byron Mitchell, Lindsay Hanley, Samantha Hanley and great uncle of Mercedes Mitchell, Joey Mitchell and Haley Mitchell. He is predeceased by his father Harold S. Mitchell and nephew Allen Mitchell. Son-in-law of Phyllis Forsyth. John will be fondly remembered by extended family and many friends from our local establishments. A long-time resident of Burlington, John was a corporate manager, an entrepreneur and a business owner. He was larger than life, creative, a visionary and a loyal, loving friend. He looked at life as the glass ½ full. Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333) on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 3p.m. followed by a Celebration of John’s Life in the chapel at 4p.m. Reception to follow.
