Obituary for William Preston "Bill" Rice

William Preston "Bill" Rice
RICE, William (Bill),
Peacefully surrounded by his loving family at The Carpenter Hospice on April 11, 2107. Loving husband of Carol (nee Conquer), father to Graham Rice and wife Cayley, Jenn McLean and husband Aaron, cherished Gramps to Preston, Sophia, Carter and Gavin, brother to Kathy Nicol of Chilliwack and will be remembered by extended family and friends. Bill grew up in Ottawa and married life has taken him to Regina, Calgary and Burlington. He was an accomplished handyman and willingly shared his love of building fences, decks, basements, garages and the like. Singing was an important leisure activity shared with Carol – Choir for Queen's visit and The Little Group in Regina, Jubilation in Calgary, Praise Unlimited/Mystery Unlimited in Burlington in addition to many church choirs. Bill so enjoyed the outdoors and was involved in many Scouts Canada activities both locally and nationally. A celebration of life is being handled by Smiths Funeral Home (http://www.smithsfh.com/). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the those charities dear to Bill’s heart - Scouts Canada, St. Christopher’s Anglican Church (Burlington), The Movember Foundation, The Carpenter Hospice (Burlington). A private family interment will be held at a later date.
