The times we all spent together 'back in the day' as they say, were really quite remarkable, often too darn funny, sometimes a bit scary and Ron always seemed to be in the middle of it all, a whirling dirvish of intellect, humour and imagination. There was never a dull moment and never a shortage of projects or expeditions. My his mind really was alive and fruitfull, if at times a bit 'different' I am so glad that I had the opportunity to pass so many years as his fellow traveller and friend and have always remembered his with great fondness and amazement.
