Obituary for Mario Colaiacovo

Mario Colaiacovo
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father and nonno on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 in his 72nd year. Mario leaves behind the love of his life, best friend and wife of 44 years, Angela (nee Ciotta), his children who meant everything to him, Maria Gizzarelli (Gino), Cristina Cacioppo (Joe) and his grandchildren, his wonderful rays of sunshine, Luca, Emily, Michael and Alessia. Mario is reunited with his parents Rocco and Maria Colaiacovo and parents-in-law Michele and Rita Ciotta. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Loreto Colaiacovo (Clara), Pietro Colaiacovo (Aldina), late Stella Antonlini (late Ernesto), late Vittorio Colaiacovo, Rosina Rosa (Franco), Giulia Demarinis (late Valerio), late Giovanni Colaiacovo (late Rina), Tina Antidormi (late Vince), Tony Ciotta and Andy Ciotta. He will also be sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews, family and friends. After over 30 years of dedicated service, Mario retired as a machinist from Trebor Allan Candy. He really enjoyed his retirement. He loved cycling with his friends, going to the Italian social club, gardening, exercising at the gym and he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. Mario was well known as a jack of all trades. Since he could fix anything, he was always the first person anyone would call when they needed help with jobs around the house. Special thanks to Dr. Steven Cusimano for his care and compassion. Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 454 Highway #8 (east of Millen Road) STONEY CREEK (905-664-4222) on Sunday, March 5, 2017 from 2-5 and 6-9 p.m. Vigil Prayers 8:30 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church, 304 Highway #8, Stoney Creek on Monday March 6, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. Entombment to follow at Our Lady of the Angels Cemetery. In kindness, memorial contributions to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be sincerely appreciated by the family. www.smithsfh.com
