Condolences

Condolence From: Ron Harris
Condolence: My sincere condolences to Bernie's family and friends. I had the honour to work with Coach when we worked together with the Burlington Braves and with Sheridan College. Bernie Custis was a man who instilled confidence and character in young men who became outstanding adults as they continued into their chosen field of work and life. He will always be remembered.

Condolence: Sorry to hear of the passing of such a great person. I used to have morning coffee with him at the old Surf in downtown Burlington 20 years after playing for him and was still motivated by his energy and concern for the well being of all persons.

Condolence: We (I) lost a very good friend.
He was my friend, my mentor, my coach my fatherlike figure.
He taught me about self accountability, respect and generosity.
He was such a quiet but powerful leader.
I, like many others owe him such a huge debt for helping us reach or our potential as men and productive members of our communities.

Love you Bernie

Kent Laidlaw

Condolence From: Bob (Sports) Feaver
Condolence: Sorry to hear of Bernie's passing. I had the fortune of covering football games for teams coached by Bernie in Halton Region between 1973-80. An added bonus was picking each other's football coaching brains including my experiences of coaching at UofT as well as getting to know him personally.

Condolence: We all mourn the loss of this great man. Bernie was a 'life long' inspiration to all those that had the privilege to know him, work with him and watch him play the sport he loved. We have lost a giant of a man who will live in our hearts forever.
