Obituary for Barbara Florence Cooper (Walmsley)

COOPER, Barbara Florence (Walmsley)

Truly one of a kind, Mom leaves us with many wonderful memories. She was and is much loved by her children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters, and many friends.

Born on Hager Avenue, lived at the Joseph Brant Museum, attended Central Schools, raised her children independently, bicycled daily to No Frills; downtown Burlington was her home for most of her 86 years.

Mom will always be remembered as a welcoming, high spirited, determined, feisty and forthright woman, lived out through her willingness to share a meal, her constant thirst for adventure, her noble (no bull) approach, her hunt for a good bargain and most importantly, her abiding love for her family. We will always remember Mom's singing and piano playing at any time of day and especially during the night.

A special thank you to Dr. David Lam and Catherine Brock of the Halton Geriatric Mental Health Outreach Program, and to Dr. Dana Pintea of the Caroline Medical Group, for their invaluable support.

A gathering to celebrate Mom's life, will be held on Saturday January 14th, from 2:00-4:00 pm at 388 Stratheden Drive, Burlington.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation Hamilton, in support of the Halton Geriatric Mental Health Outreach Program, would be sincerely appreciated by the family.

An interment will be held in the Spring at St. Luke's Anglican Church.
