Obituary for Shirley Anne Klement (Sheehan)

Shirley Anne Klement (Sheehan)
Klement, Shirley Anne (nee Sheehan)
July 29, 1932-January 7, 2017. 84 years of a full life.
Born in Richmond England, Shirley, at age 8 along with younger brother Tony, travelled by ship to Virginia for safety during WWII. A world traveler, Shirley settled in Canada where she married and raised three children. An avid naturalist, Shirley enjoyed birding, nature walks making lasting friendships along the way. Shirley frequently made trips “home” to England and also to Australia to visit her beloved brother. Her work as a library technician at the RBG gave her a career she thoroughly enjoyed. Shirley enjoyed music and could be found folk dancing every Friday night for many years. In 1992 Shirley became Kanga to the first of two grandchildren. She relished this new role spending lots of time reading them classics like Beatrix Potter. She was kind and thoughtful, always asking questions and ready with hugs and sharing a pot of tea. Much loved, Shirley will be greatly missed by all of her family, Richard (Susan), Andrew (Sandy), Cara (Rick); grandchildren Jocelyn (Brad), Quinn, Laura and Randy; Brother Tony (Hannelore), Louise and family in Virginia, many longtime friends and all her nieces and nephews.
We extend sincere appreciation to the caring staff and volunteers at Macassa Lodge and are grateful for the support received from the Alzheimer Society.
