Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at McNally House Hospice on Friday, September 23, 2016 at the age of 62. Beloved husband of Pauline (nee Lamb) for 38 years. Loving father of David Mercanti and his wife Kathryn and Amanda Perri and her husband Vincent. Cherished grandfather of Matthew, Joshua, Emelia, Grace and Vincent Jr.. Much loved brother of Patricia Ryan (the late David), Joseph Mercanti (Lois), Michael Mercanti (Rhonda Chaimovitz), the late Maria Succi (Mauro), Peter Mercanti (Barb), Kathy Mercanti (Adam DiFilippo), Rosemary Paleochoritis (Nick), Julie Whalen (Bill) and brother-in law of Robert Lamb (Heather). Dear uncle of many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Maria and Ralph Mercanti. Jim was the Treasurer of the Mercanti Memorial Golf Tournament, Treasurer of the SCOHA (Stoney Creek Old Timers Hockey Association), President of the Wentworth Condominium Association #145, a Eucharistic Minister of his parish and was a long-time employee of Republic Engineered Technologies.
